Bali...Day 1, 16th January'12

My love affair with Bali began when I was 20 when I visited it for the first time with my bestie, Irene from Singapore. Shopping, good food, cheap massages, cocktail, sun, sea, sand... just can't get enough of it. Years later, here I am again with my family, two teenage kids in tow for the upteenth time and we never tire of it, always finding something different to do.

January is monsoon season and the rains fall fast and furious. Round about 5am this morning, there was an earthquake a few hundred metres away but we slept through the gentle tremors.

Bali - always surprising, always something to see and do. The people are genuinely warm and friendly. They have a natural curiousity about visitors of their country. They are never short of a warm smile and greet with their hands in prayer position.

Our first day was spent getting reaquainted with the Westin all over again. Nusa Dua is far from the madding crowd in Kuta. Love this resort. There is something for everyone of every age. We personally love the pool room - a round of pool is what we look forward to after dinner each night. The kids' club for younger children is first class. Kids' pool with a long slippery dip, a large outdoor playground, badminton, ping-pong, a games room with a couple of Playstations & various board games. Water sports include kite surfing, wind surfind, stand up paddle boarding, body surfing, kayaking, flying fish, parasailing, jetskiing, etc. A great place to spend good quality time with the family.
